Regional Tram in Groningen
09 June 2008
The center for Highperformance Computing and Visualisation has been asked to create a 3D visualisation of a view possible layouts for a tram in Groningen. The tram is needed to cope with increasing number of people going into the city everyday. The first connection will be from the central train station to the university campus. To visualise the impact on the environment, we build a model of the complete city in 3D.
The model has been shown to the local government. The general public got to see it from june 6th till june 8th 2008 in the Martini church. Many people have experienced the virtual tram tour in 3D stereo.
Another company took our 3D model of the city and made a webversion of it. Unfortunately it only works with Internet Explorer and it can take a while to load all the data. The website can be found at http://www.3d.groningen.nl
