Blaauw Observatory opens during 'Night of the Night'
On Saturday 25, the 10th 'Night of the Night' is organized throughout the country. The Blaauw Observatory will be open for this special occasion. Visitors can watch the stars and participate in a photo competition. The aim of this Night is to raise awareness about light pollution.
There is hardly a dark spot left in The Netherlands. That's why environmental and conservation organizations want to raise awareness about the consequences of light pollution. The Blaauw Observatory participates in the 10th national 'Night of the Night'.
What's up?
There is a full program at the Observatory (located in the Bernoulliborg building on the Zernike Campus of the University of Groningen), based around the theme of 'telescopes'. You may listen to a lecture about telescopes, experiment, join in an astronomy quiz or (if the skies are clear) use the Gratama Telescope to see nebula's and binary stars. The Science LinX science exhibition is also open to visitors. There's plenty to do for kids as well.
The Observatory opens at 6 p.m. at the Bernoulliborg (address: Nijenborgh 9, Groningen). Entrance is free. but it is recommended to tell us you're coming through the Blaauw website.
