Where: | Groninger Forum. Nieuwe Markt Groningen |
On the first weekend of October, Groningen will be celebrating the national Science Weekend.
The weekend begins on Friday 30 September with European Researchers’ Night, which will be held in Forum Groningen and is open to all researchers and interested guests. This year, the theme is ‘Women & Science’.
The night will be followed by an extra-large edition of Zpannend Zernike, the free science festival for primary-school-aged children. The festival will take place in various locations across the city on Saturday 1 October and at Zernike Campus on Sunday 2 October.
This year, the annual European Researchers’ Night and Zpannend Zernike are taking place on the same weekend. Reason enough for a good collaboration, to get even more children (and adults) excited about science. On Friday evening, headed by the Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health, the four new interdisciplinary Schools at the UG will organize European Researchers’ Night in Forum Groningen, featuring a talk show, music, interactive exhibitions, and a drinks reception. The theme of ‘Women & Science’ will be central. All researchers, staff members, students, and interested guests are warmly welcome!

European Researchers’ Night will be seamlessly followed by Zpannend Zernike, a free science festival for primary-school-aged children and their parents or guardians, held on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 October from 12 noon until 5 p.m. The Zpannend Zernike afternoons are all about going on a voyage of discovery through the world of science.
