Zernike Institute Confidential Advisor
As a member of the Zernike Institute you may face problems that do not directly relate to your research but do affect your work (and possibly even your private life). These situations can be very diverse, for instance:
You have a problem with (a) labmate(s).
There is an issue with your supervisor
You have experienced a form of undesired behaviour
You suspect scientific malpractise
Your supervisor puts too much pressure on you
You have difficulties adjusting to life in the Netherlands
You have difficulties finding a good balance between life and work
These are just a few of the problems you may encounter. Sometimes these problems resolve themselves. But if they don't, experiences like these can ultimately have a profound impact on your wellbeing. It can help to talk about this in private. For this the Zernike Institute offers a first line of support - the institute's confidential advisor. The confidential advisor may help you to get clarity on your problem and may advise on further steps to tackle them. By providing links to the professional support organisation of the University - incl. UG general practitioner, psychologists, counsellors, scientific integrity team, and many more - a broad spectrum of issues can be tackled.
