Here I will talk about our recent progress in the design and fabrication of highly efficient perovskite based tandem solar cells, including perovskite/c-Si and perovskite-perovskite monolithic tandems. I will discuss two crucial issues on the path to efficient and stable perovskite solar cells: (1) defect Engineering to reduce carrier trapping in perovskite absorber and (2) contact passivation at interfaces to reduce recombination loss [1-3]. These methods enable us realizing perovskite/perovskite tandem solar cells with efficiency approaching best crystalline silicon solar cells [4].
