The presence of a quantum phase transition is believed to widely influence the properties of many correlated electron materials, and is often associated with emergent phases such as unconventional superconductivity or "strange" metallicity. I will present recent measurements of Ce-based heavy fermion systems that indicate a fundamental difference between magnetic field tuned and pressure tuned quantum criticality, and will discuss the implications of these results for our understanding of the role of certain quantum phase transitions.
