Maria Antonietta Loi honored as a 2025 Materials Research Society Fellow
The Materials Research Society (MRS) has announced that Maria Antoinietta Loi, professor of Photophysics & OptoElectronics at the University of Groningen, has been selected as a 2025 MRS Fellow, an esteemed recognition awarded to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to materials research. This prestigious honor is reserved for a select group of scientists whose pioneering work has significantly advanced the field.

Election to the MRS Fellows program is highly selective, with only a small fraction of the Society’s members, i.e. 0,2 %, receiving this distinction each year. Fellows are chosen based on their outstanding achievements in materials science and their impact on the broader scientific community.
Professor Loi has been recognized “For advancing the understanding of the physical properties of organic semiconductors, colloidal quantum dots and metal halide perovskite favoring their exploitation in optoelectronic devices”.
"Being named an MRS Fellow is a tremendous honor, and I am grateful to the University of Groningen for providing me with an excellent environment, as well as to the many talented students who have worked with me over the years," said Prof. Loi. "I am deeply thankful to MRS and my colleagues for this recognition."
The MRS Fellows program was established to celebrate excellence in materials research and to acknowledge those who have demonstrated distinguished service to the field. Fellows are recognized for their sustained contributions that have shaped the future of materials science.
