KHMW "For Women in Science" honorable mention for Dr. Carmem Maia Gilardoni
On April 21st the Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen organized the Dutch version of the L'Oréal-Unesco "For Women in Science" program. It was the 10th anniversary of the program in the Netherlands. Dr. Carmem Maia Gilardoni, postdoc in the group Physics of Quantum Devices, received an honorable mention.
The FWIS supports two female scientist in the Life Science with fellowships of 25.000 Euro each. Additionally to that, three Rising Talent Awards are granted to young female researchers in the life- and exact sciences.
Carmem Maia Gilardoni obtained a PhD in physics from the University of Groningen. Her research focuses on the fundamental building blocks of quantum technology, the qubits. More specifically, she studies qubits formed by atomic impurities in materials that are already widely used in classical computer technologies. Her research question: what is the relationship between form and behavior of these qubits.
