University Colloquium: An evening with the Spinoza Laureates
An evening with the Spinoza Laureates Lodi Nauta, Cisca Wijmenga and Bart van Wees

On Monday 12 June 2017 from 7:30 p.m. until 9.30 p.m. the Young Academy Groningen and Prof. Elmer Sterken, Rector Magnificus, will host a University Colloquium. The theme of the evening is Interdisciplinarity: University Idea or Ideal? The evening aims for an open and lively discussion with three of the University's recent Spinoza Laureates and is aimed at young scientists (Master’s, PhDs, postdocs, tenure track, UD) and those interested in whether and how interdisciplinarity should shape the future academic research landscape.

20:00 Opening Prof. Elmer Sterken, Rector Magnificus, and Young Academy Groningen members.
Part 1: "Top Scientists: Road to the Spinoza Prize" Interview with Spinoza Laureates Lodi Nauta, Cisca Wijmenga and Bart van Wees, with Martijn van Calmthout, Science Editor for de Volkskrant.
Part 2: "Interdisciplinarity: University Idea or Ideal?" Lagerhuis-style debate with the Spinoza Laureates on how Interdisciplinary Research influences the research landscape.
Some examples that will be debated are:

"We lose scientific expertise when we encourage interdisciplinarity"
