Merel Keijzer and Lude Franke awarded membership to the KNAW De Jonge Akademie

12 December 2016

Today it was announced that two of our Young Academy Groningen members, Merel Keijzer and Lude Franke , have been selected as new members of the Dutch National De Jonge Akademie (DJA), which is affiliated with the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).

Each year 10 new young researchers are selected to the DJA who must have already made their mark in science and further have a broad interest in science and scholarship, in the role that science plays in society, and in science policy. Our own University's Young Academy shares similar principles with the National DJA.

Merel Keijzer (Faculty of Arts) is an Assistant Professor and Rosalind Franklin Fellow specializing in Bilingualism. She is a member of the Young Academy Groningen Board as Deputy Chair of Outreach.

Lude Franke (Faculty of Medical Sciences) is an Associate Professor in Genetics and Bioinformatics at the UMCG.
