D.K. (David) Cheruiyot, PhD
Dr. David Cheruiyot is an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Media and Journalism Studies (CMJS). David is interested in how citizens and news media organizations make the news and the journalism profession serve the global society better. His research broadly explores the transformation of journalism in an age of digital disruptions and global crises that have had an impact on public trust in the news. He is currently researching how the public makes news organizations accountable for their harms and failures and the broader implications to media policy, society and democracy.
David contributes to YAG’s interdisciplinary agenda by actively promoting opportunities/incentives for more collaborations among early-career researchers in scientific/intellectual projects, but also through interdependent thinking in tackling threats to academic freedom, social safety as well as institutional autonomy. He champions for (real) solutions to address inequalities in scientific knowledge production and generally within academia.
