To properly address the needs of people with mild intellectual disability (LVB), it is important to recognise both the intellectual disability and possible additional problems. Care workers benefit from a clear overview of which problems are common and how often (prevalence). To date, such an overview has been lacking.

The book Looking beyond LVB therefore provides a comprehensive overview of additional problems studied in the literature. The prevalences found are subdivided into the chapters focused on Participation (in society), Health, and Context (or environment) in order to provide a useful overview for practitioners and counselors of additional problems that may be present in people with LVB.
