Cyber security with applications to both smart energy systems and smart industry
Owing to advances in computing and communication technologies, recent years have witnessed a growing interest towards Cyber-physical Systems (CPSs), i.e., systems where physical processes are monitored/controlled via embedded computers and networks. Examples of cyber-physical systems include transportation networks, power generation and distribution networks, water and gas distribution networks, and advanced communication systems.Due to standardization and the need to reduce costs, some of the core hardware and protocols adopted in cyber-physical systems are of public domain, thus vulnerable to cyber and physical attacks.
The aim of this project is to develop novel monitoring and distributed control systems that are resilient against network induced imperfections, faults and malicious attack as Bias Injection (BI) and Denial-of-Service (DoS).
The designed methods should consider resource constraints and limitations of CPS systems.
