Cooperative networked systems and data center control
A cyber-physical system combines physical processes with processing elements on which the control algorithms are executing. The latter, together with the many sensors and the interconnection network, constitute the cyber component of the system. Due to the complexity of the system, a single centralized controller is unfeasible and distributed cooperative controllers must be designed. These controllers take into account the limitations imposed by the cyber component of the systems, including the communication network. In this project, we investigate distributed cooperative controllers for networks of cyber-physical systems with focus on the design of thermal-aware workload schedulers for data centers (server farms).
