International conference
Groningen, the Netherlands
19-20 January 2017
On 19-20 January 2017 the conference Learning Histories for Sustainable Societies was organised in Groningen, the Netherlands. Attended by 100 participants, this was the first international conference on this subject since 1996 when the learning histories method was developed at Boston M.I.T. Among the speakers were the founders of the learning histories, Hilary Bradbury, Art Kleiner, George Roth, as well as practitioners from all over the world. The conference was co-hosted by the Department of History at the University of Groningen and Sustainable Society. This site contains all papers of the conference, including the interesting discussions which followed them.
Since 2004 the Department of History has been an important centre for the study and application of learning histories. In cooperation with master students of the course Learning Histories and Organizations more than 60 learning histories have been written for both profit and non-profit organizations, like Philips, the Dutch Employment Service, the Dutch Tax Administration, Rijkswaterstaat and many others. We would like to thank the RUG AV-services for the visualisation of this conference.
