Our research is embedded within the two largest research institutes in the Faculty of Arts: the Centre for Language and Cognition Groningen (CLCG) and the Groningen Research Institute for the Study of Culture (ICOG). At the CLCG, which focuses on the field of linguistics, our linguists participate in the Neurolinguistics and Language Development research group. At the ICOG, which facilitates research in history, art history, literature, and the intellectual, political, literary and artistic culture, our literature specialists participate in two research centres: the Research Centre for Arts in Society and Research Centre for Historical Studies.

Beyond Groningen, our staff are members of many international research initiatives across all areas of English language, linguistics and literature.
