Vanaf: | do 15-05-2025 |
Tot en met: | vr 16-05-2025 |
Waar: | Latijnse School in Nijmegen city centre |
This international workshop, part of the Anchoring Innovation Research Program & OIKOS, and sponsored by the Radboud Institute for History and Culture and the Internationalization Fund of Radboud University, explores the role of world’s fairs and international expositions in the production of visions of the past and the future. Exploring the topic with the aid of the concepts of anchoring and reference culture, the workshop aims at investigating how the canonization of selected aspects of the past as models for modern societies fostered better acceptance of various innovations, ranging from cultural, aesthetic and educational to political, socio-economic and technological ones.
As the venue has limited capacity, we kindly ask to confirm your attendance by RSVP May 5th through sending an email to antiquities.modernlab gmail.com. Early registration will be favoured as it will help us ensure a smooth experience for everyone.
Additionally, we are organizing an optional lunch during the conference. Lunch will be at participants’ own expense (15 euro pp). We would appreciate it if you could indicate your interest in joining the lunch – and eventual dietary restrictions and / or allergies, when confirming your attendance. This will help us with reservations and logistics.
For more information, please find attached the advertising poster and the program of the workshop, designed by our splendid student assistant Constanza Lobos Campusano.
We look forward to seeing you in Nijmegen!
All the best,
Ketty, Tom and Maarten
