About the workshop

Presenting your research with impact. Improve your presenting and science communication skills. Take your scientific presentations to a higher level and learn how to communicate your research in an attractive, effective, and convincing manner.

This workshop covers various facets that are necessary for a successful presentation, including:

- Objective: what is your goal? What can you gain from presenting?

- Structure: make a logical, solid structure and guide your audience

- Understandable: tailor the content to your audience (avoid jargon)

- Engaging: get attention and create an arc of tension throughout your talk

- Relevance: what makes your story relevant for your audience?

After the workshop you know how to present complex matters in an understandable and engaging way.

The result: you can feel confident that your message gets across, is understood, and remembered.

This workshop is for all researchers who are interested in presenting their research with impact.

Trainer

Marloes ten Kate is a presenter, science journalist and presentation coach for scientists. She is founder of TaketheStage where she coaches scientists who want to present their science and co-founder of Scientific Storytelling, where she trains scientists in the art of storytelling. She worked at national radio- and television programs as a science journalist and presenter. As a presentation coach she trained hundreds of (international) researchers in the techniques necessary to prepare and give effective presentations.
