Molecular Immunology

Molecular Immunology - Geert van den Bogaart works at the Department of Molecular Immunology and Microbiology (www.mimy.eu) at the University of Groningen. The goal of his research is to understand and ultimately tailor membrane trafficking pathways in immune cells to cure and prevent disease, mainly autoimmune disease and cancer. The central focus of his research is the cellular mechanism that leads to antigen uptake and presentation by phagocytes of the immune system. The Van den Bogaart lab is positioned at the interface of chemistry, microscopy and immunology.
