Communicating about Nature

11 May 2017

We always like to talk about Nature, of course, but recently no less than 4 contributions from the MD group were published in Nature Communications!

Floris, Manel, Pim, Xavier and SJ about the photosynthesis machinery: Exchange pathways of plastoquinone and plastoquinol in the photosystem II complex (Nat. Comm. 8, 15214). You can also find plenty of news about it in the media with a cool movie that explains the paper in brief, see e.g. www.rug.nl/sciencelinx/nieuws/2017/05/20170510_psii

Work from Jaakko and SJ on the very topical nanopores: Stability and dynamics of membrane-spanning DNA nanopores (Nat. Comm. 8, 14784)

Alex has cracked another piece of the glycolipid puzzle: Tight cohesion between glycolipid membranes results from balanced water-headgroup interactions (Nat. Comm. 8, 14899)

and finally Ignacio and SJ published some cool insights into the mechanism of the glutamate transporter: Coupled binding mechanism of three sodium ions and aspartate in the glutamate transporter homologue Glt-Tk (Nat. Comm. 7, 13420).

Congrats to the authors, happy reading to everyone else, and I think I count 4 different cakes for the group!
