NOVA: alliance of astronomical institutes
Astronomical research in the Netherlands is coordinated and stimulated by NOVA, the Netherlands Research School for Astronomy. It is the alliance of the astronomical institutes of the universities of Amsterdam, Groningen, Leiden and Nijmegen.
Astronomy is considered a top science in the Netherlands. NOVA was selected as a top research school in 1998 after an open national competition and as such receives significant funding from the Dutch Ministry of Education.
NOVA's mission
NOVA's mission is to carry out top astronomical research in the Netherlands, train young astronomers at the highest international level, and share new discoveries with society. [text: NOVA website]
