Discussion of “Strike a Rock”, dir. Aliki Saragas-Georgiou (fully online) – with Nomusa Makhubu, Helene Strauss and Patience Mususa, moderated by Ksenia Robbe and Kylie Thomas
The discussion will focus on the documentary and explore feminist resistances against violent extractivism in South Africa in the aftermath of the 2012 Marikana Massacre and in the Zambian Copperbelt.
This event is part of the series Footnotes – Intersectional Strategies in (South) Africa organized by Zuid-Afrikahuis, Amsterdam, with the support of The Groningen Research Institute for the Study of Culture, University of Groningen, and The Netherlands Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies.
It is also part of the workshop Politics and Poetics of Stike in the Postsocialist and Postcolonial Encounter, which will be held in Groningen on 7-8 April 2022.
