Spanish Ministry of Science awards research grant to Pablo Valdivia Martin and Alberto Godioli

04 September 2019

The Spanish Ministry of Science has awarded EUR 45.980, as well as a fully funded double PhD position to the project "Analogy, Equivalence, Polivalence and Transferability as Rhetoric-Cultural and Interdiscursive Principles in Language Arts: Literature, Rhetoric, Discourse". The project is led by researchers Prof. Dr Tomás Albaladejo (Autonomous University of Madrid), Prof. Dr Pablo Valdivia Martin (RUG), and Dr Alberto Godioli (RUG).

The aim of this project is to study the properties of metaphors and their capacity to cognitively create links between distant non-related concepts. Besides, the project will analyse how metaphors operate, from a data science perspective, in the configuration of societal, political and cultural imaginaries. This highly theoretical and innovative project comprises a multinational and multidisciplinary team with staff members from the Autonomous University of Madrid and the University of Groningen.
