Multicomponent reactions in high throughput synthesis and medicinal chemistry
The rapid and easy access to biologically relevant compounds by MCRs and the scaffold diversity of MCRs have driven the application of MCRs in medicinal chemistry and drug design. To further address and fill in several research gaps concerning the potential application of MCRs in medicinal chemistry, three projects have been carried out by Li Gao and one review was written which are demonstrated in four chapters.
Gao: 'Chapter 1: we exercise an alternative, the 'on-the-fly' synthesis of large and diverse libraries on a nanoscale in a highly automated fashion. Chapter 2: An overview is given on the current knowledge of the spread, disease course, and molecular biology of SARS-CoV-2. We discuss potential treatment developments in the context of recent outbreaks, drug repurposing and development timelines. Chapter 3: A series of unprecedented imidazo[1,2-a]pyrazin-8-amines are synthesized from simple and readily available building blocks. Chapter 4: We design a new 4-hydroxyl-3,5-di-tert butyl benzyl isocyanide to serve as a cleavable isocyanide in the Ugi tetrazole reaction.'
