Samenvatting:
Limb amputation has a major impact on the individual, not only in distorting body image, but also affects their social and psychological functioning. Prosthesis is the only means by which these people can be independent, participate in the society, and resume their work. There are various factors which can influence the use of prosthesis by amputees and also in turn affect their quality of life (QOL). The research questions that will be studied are:
- What is known in scientific literature about the QoL of people with lower limb amputation?
- Is the measurement instrument used to measure the health related QoL reliable and valid to be used in India?
- Which socio-demographic, medical and amputation-related factors are related to the adjustment to amputation and prosthesis?
- What is the role of adjustment to amputation and prosthesis in determining QoL in lower limb amputees?
