Project on: Comparing different methods of measuring cell senescence
Aging is an essential part of the human life cycle and can be described in terms of “chronological age”, as determined by the date of birth, and the “biological age”, as determined by the changes in body physiology. An understanding of the relationship between chronological and biological age can be important for forensic sciences, disaster victim identification, and a better understanding of the pathways or processes in biological age-associated autoimmune diseases.
This study performed a comparative analysis of three different methods of measuring biological age – Cawthon’s and O’Callaghan & Fenech’s telomere length measurement, and the quantifying of T cell development byproducts.
This 5-month internship was part of my BSC course, Biomedical Sciences, at the University of Amsterdam. See pdf of thesis
