Travel

• By air
  
  The city of Groningen is situated just 2,5 hours from Amsterdam. Amsterdam Schiphol airport is one of the major European airports and is easily accessible. There are two trains per hour between Amsterdam Schiphol airport and Groningen.
  
  Groningen has a small airport (Groningen Airport Eelde) which can be reached from several European airports which include Copenhagen, Gdansk and London.

• By train
  
  Airport Schiphol to Groningen Central Station by train ( http://www.ns.nl/en/travellers/home )
  Train timetables: The train usually leaves from platform 1 – 2. There is a 30 minute frequency of departure: - 3 minutes past every hour; is a direct train to Groningen Central Station. - 33 minutes past every hour; has one change at Zwolle Central Station. Usually the train to Groningen leaves from the opposite platform. (Generally, the train arrives at platform 6 and leaves for Groningen at platform 7.) * The first train to leave Schiphol Airport towards Groningen Central Station is at 05:42 hrs. The last to leave Groningen CS to Schiphol Airport is at 22:46 hrs. *Duration of the trip is about 2 hours and 15 minutes.
  

• Public Transport
  
  Ø Take bus 6 direction Hoornse meer from Groningen Central Station
  Ø Reaching the stop D.D. Eisenhowerstraat get off the bus
  Ø Walk along the red cycle path towards the hotel
  

• By car
  
  From Assen (A28)
  Take the A28 towards Groningen. Just before Groningen you take exit 39 (exit Groningen Zuid). At the bottom of the exit you turn left, under the A28. You go over the bridge and turn left after 10 meters. Straight on, onto the drive and you see Hampshire Hotel – Plaza Groningen before you.
  
  From Amsterdam/Drachten (A7)
  Take the A7 towards Groningen. At the end of the A7 at the traffic lights (Julianaplein), turn right towards Assen. Stay right and take the first exit Groningen Zuid. At the bottom of the exit you turn right, then first left. Straight on, onto the drive and you see Hampshire Hotel – Plaza Groningen before you.\
  
  
• Once in Groningen, there is the possibility to rent a bike:
  
  > at the Hamsphire Hotel - Plaza Groningen. Prices will vary from 8,75 for a normal bike to 20,00 for an e-bike (prices are per day).
  
  > at the Central Station Groningen you can also rent a bicycle from the supervised bicycle storage area at this station. You need a valid proof of ID if you want to hire a bicycle. You will pay a deposit ranging from €50 (for the simplest bicycle) to €150 (for an electric model).
