Pieter Dieleman received the Ph.D degree in Applied physics from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands in 1998, after which he spent 2 years at Photonis Netherlands b.v. From 2000 onwards he is at SRON, leading the verification program of the scientific instrument HIFI on board of the ESA satellite Herschel. Currently he is group leader of the SRON applied physicists. His research interests are IR detector development, novel spectral techniques, and systems engineering.
