New scientific coordinator: Judith Paridaen

We welcome a new team member, Judith! Our new scientific coordinator.

She is a developmental neurobiologist by training and has done research at institutions such as the Hubrecht Institute in Utrecht and Max Planck Institute in Dresden. In recent years, she was a Rosalind Franklin Fellow and Assistant Professor at UMCG.

Her passion for science communication played a significant role in her previous position. Now, she is eager to apply her expertise in a more supportive role.

"I recently decided to switch paths to a more supportive role in science. Therefore, I am really excited to contribute to the scientific programs and ambitions at CogniGron in my new role as a Scientific Coordinator."

One of the most compelling aspects of her new position is the opportunity to explore neuromorphic computing, an area she is keen to delve into.

"I’m well at home in neurobiology and -science, but neuromorphic computing is new to me, and I am very curious to learn more about this very cool and timely topic and the interdisciplinary approaches and research taking place at CogniGron."

Beyond her professional careers, she enjoys a life filled with music and creativity. She plays the bass guitar in two bands (and sings) and did a Glazenier training (creating stained-glass windows). Additionally, her favourite place is Schiermonnikoog, where she loves to hike.

In her new role at CogniGron, she aims to contribute particularly to (EU) funding acquisition, supporting PhD students and coordinating events that highlight the research at CogniGron.

She encourages colleagues to reach out with ideas, questions or concerns related to these topics, or simply want to explore some ideas in a brainstorm, "don’t hesitate to approach me!"
