Chris Thio
Chris Thio is a PhD candidate at the department of Epidemiology. At the University of Groningen, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine. His research interests led him to join Harold Snieder’s Unit of Genetic Epidemiology and Bioinformatics as an intern in 2013. After obtaining his Research Master degree in Clinical and Psychosocial Epidemiology in 2015, he started a PhD project supervised by Harold Snieder, Ute Bültmann (Health Sciences), and Ron Gansevoort (Nephrology). In this multidisciplinary project, he aims to elucidate pathways underlying socioeconomic inequalities in kidney disease, applying concepts from genetic epidemiology such as genetic risk scores and Mendelian randomization.
