Patrizio Raffa appointed as associate professor

We are happy to announce that dr Patrizio Raffa has been granted promotion by the Executive Board of our University to associate professor in Smart and Sustainable Polymeric Products.

received his MSc degree inv chemistry with honors from the University of Pisa and from Scuola Normale Superiore in 2004, where he also completed his PhD in chemistry in 2008. He did post-doctoral research at Ircelyon (CNRS), CNR-INFM Polylab (Pisa), then back at the University of Pisa, and finally at the University of Groningen. In 2017 he got a position as Assistant Professor in the same University . His current research aims at developing new multifunctional polymeric materials relevant for industrial applications. In particular, he is interested in amphiphilic and stimuli-responsive polymers obtained via controlled polymerization methods, and in the use of bio-derived building blocks for the synthesis of sustainable polymeric products. He published more than 50 papers in ISI journals, and one invited book in chemical enhanced oil recovery. He is coordinator and lecturer for courses in the Chemical Engineering and Chemistry education of the University of Groningen.
