MIT seed grant for Vasilis Kyriakou
MIT-Netherlands Lockheed Martin Seed Fund promote cutting-edge research collaborations and help to deepen partnerships between MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, VS) researchers and their Dutch counterparts. Through an annual call for proposals, the fund promotes the exchange between faculty and students at MIT and at universities in the Netherlands. This year Dr. Vasilis Kyriakou from the Engineering and Technology institute Groningen (ENTEG) together with Prof. B. Yildiz from MIT have been selected to develop cutting edge materials for the electrochemical production of green ammonia at atmospheric pressure. The project will take advantage of both the novel interface-sensitive experimental capabilities at the Laboratory of Electrochemical Interfaces at MIT, and electrochemical reaction engineering in ENTEG to surpass the critical limitations of efficiency to ammonia. This highly multidisciplinary project offers a unique opportunity not only for the two PIs to combine their expertises on a hot topic, but also for master students to get involved with new disciplines beyond their studies by working both at MIT and RUG
