Research Center for Language and Cognition (CLCG) TOK-day

Registration

Deadline for registration: November 1, 2024

In the registration form, you can indicate whether you want to actively participate in the TOK-day by presenting a poster or giving a PhD flash talk or impact talk. You will also be asked to submit a topic(s) for the research speeddates.

A PhD flash talk is a short pitch of 6 minutes in which you can talk about your PhD research. Afterwards, there will be 2 minutes for questions. A PhD flash talk gives you the chance to bring attention to your research among colleagues in your field of expertise from all over the Netherlands and Flanders. This provides a nice starting point for valuable conversations and discussions and the opportunity to expand your network.

During an impact talk, you can tell something about your project that directly impacts society or business. These talks are meant for projects that bridge the gap between scientific research and end users through concrete results. The TOK-day offers you a platform to show what you are doing and how scientific research can be valuable and relevant in daily life.

For the research speed dates, a number of topics are selected based on which all participants can divide themselves into groups to spar with each other. In order to get an idea of the areas of interest of the participants, we ask you to suggest one or more topics for these speed date sessions.

For the posters as well as the PhD flash talks and the impact talks, the subject must be related to the acquisition of Dutch in children. This may concern all aspects of development, including typical, multilingual and impaired development. The language of the past TOK-days was predominantly Dutch. As concluded from the survey of last year's business meeting, the choice of language is up to the speakers. Keynotes, poster presentations, PhD flash talks and impact talks may be given in both Dutch and English. If you provide a Dutch title and abstract, you indicate that you will present in Dutch. If you provide an English title and abstract, you will present in English.
