TOK-day

22 November 2024
TOK dag

The 4th TOK-dag is organised by the University of Groningen and Hanze University of Applied Sciences and will be held on Friday 22nd November 2024.

The TOK-dag — Language development of children in the Netherlands — is a yearly one-day event, aiming to bring together everyone who works on child language in the Dutch language area, to exchange ideas and experiences, be inspired, and see each other again. Attendees are researchers from Dutch and Flemish research universities and universities of applied sciences, and also researchers from centres of expertise such as Kentalis, Auris and the Dutch organisation for the deaf and hard of hearing child (NSDSK). The TOK-dag thus offers a unique platform for colleagues from different institutions who would otherwise not see each other (often).

The first TOK-dag was organised in Amsterdam in 2019 by Jeannette Schaeffer (UvA), Elma Blom (UU) and Josje Verhagen (UvA), reviving what was previously known as the NET-dag, Network Eerste Taalverwerving / network of first language acquisition. After covid-related delays, the next editions were held in Nijmegen (2022) and Utrecht (2023). The fourth TOK-dag will be held on November 22nd 2024 in Groningen.

The keynote speakers of the TOK-day 2024 are Sergio Miguel Pereira Soares (Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, Nijmegen), Julie Daelman (Ghent University), Cheyenne Svaldi (University of Groningen) and Jeannette Schaeffer (University of Amsterdam).
