Master student Andra Minculescu wins the ‘FSE Impact Award’
The board of the Faculty Software Engineering decided on the winner of the FSE Impact Award 2024 in the category Students. The Board selected Andra Minculescu as winner.
In their report, the jury wrote about the project:
'This is an impressive project in which the student has combined two scientific approaches to improve collaborative decision-making in healthcare, focusing on a specific treatment in dermatology. In close interaction with doctors at the UMCG and TNO, she has found a new screening method that has the potential for considerable impact on the healthcare system in general and on patient’s well-being in particular. Her approach contributes to the overall shift in the paradigm of moving Al being perceived as a tool to Al being perceived as a companion. Although the implementation is still in an early stage, the jury very much appreciates Minulescu’s initiatives to create impact by involving stakeholders right from the start. The jury is also impressed by the fact that Minculescu as a student already presented at scientific conferences'.
The jury for the FSE Impact Award 2024 consisted this year of:
• Prof.dr. Ton Broekhuis, chair, honorary professor Product Technology
• Prof.dr. Gert-Jan Euverink, professor Biotechnology & Applied Microbiology
• Dr. Henk Mulder, teacher and former educational director Master Science Education and Communication. Coordinator Wetenschapswinkel @ Science LinX
• Tamar Puttman, former student assessor FSE; master student Biology
• Dr. Victor Stoica, business developer FSE.
Andra was supervised by dr. Harmen de Weerd and dr. Wico Mulder (affiliate associate professor)
The Award will be handed to her during the FSE New Year reception, the 6th of January.
