27 November 2023
The podcast series "Degrees of Freedom" aims to empower learners and teachers in Higher Education in their goals by hosting conversations between teachers and students on pedagogical, practical, cultural, and other inspirational topics that could strengthen the community and its members and stimulate discussion, reflection and experimentation.
The podcast series is produced at the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Science of the University of Groningen. It is hosted by Tassos Sarampalis (Experimental Psychology) and since the third season Marcello Seri (Associate Professor of Dynamical Systems, Geometry & Mathematical Physics (DSGMP) at the Bernoulli Institute) is his co-host. Marcello Seri was a guest in the first season episode 7 "Failing forward".
Marcello Seri is also co-hosting another podcast series. "It's not just numbers" is a podcast on mathematics and its human side. Each month two mathematicians from the Bernoulli Institute are joined in a conversation where some common stereotypes and misconceptions are being addressed, giving space to the people of mathematics.
Each episode starts by getting to know the guests, their research, their drive and what they do outside mathematics. In the second half of the episode together some themes related to mathematics and mathematicians are being discussed. The podcast is also hosted by Marit van Straaten, one of the master students.
They went live this month and you can find the first episode at spotify or any of the major podcast platforms.
