The Distributed Systems research group at the Bernoulli Institute has acquired NWO funding
The project "DDTClean: Distributed Digital Twin for Clean Water'' from the Distributed Systems research group received a total of 700,000 euro funding from NWO and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
This bilateral project (led by Dilek Dustegor) is a result of collaboration between University of Groningen (Dilek Dustegor, Alexander Lazovik), University of Amsterdam (Victoria Degeler), and Aveco de Bondt (Maarten Kuiper). Wanli Zheng (FSE Project Manager Research Strategy and Partnerships) played a pivotal role in establishing a project collaboration with the Chinese partners in the consortium: Chongqing Institute of Green and Intelligent Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Yuan Liu), Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Wenzheng Yu), Chongqing Academy of Science and Technology (Cheng Yang), and Chongqing Haoyang Water Construction Management Co., Ltd.(Zhenggang Zhao). The goal of the project DDTClean is to develop an AI enhanced scalable distributed digital twin framework, to facilitate the coordination in and across operational silos of the wastewater system's stakeholders, aiming to improve the environmental quality while contributing to system-wide optimal operations.
