Title:
Some of the mathematics behind geometric modelling
Abstract:
Geometric modelling focuses on representing shapes (curves, surfaces, ...) and finds applications in computer graphics, computer-aided design, and other areas which (heavily) rely on 2D/3D geometry. In this talk, I will first give an overview of my interests within the area of geometric modelling, and then move on to some interesting behind-the-scenes mathematical aspects involved in my research, including generalized barycentric coordinates, numerical quadrature for certain spline spaces, and special classes of curves and surfaces with rational offsets.
