Contact Variational Integrators
Abstract:
After a brief introduction to geometric integrators and contact hamiltonian mechanics, I will present a new family of geometric integrators adapted to contact systems. Surprisingly, in the error analysis this construction presents some noteworthy simplifications compared to the corresponding construction for symplectic systems. In the talk I will try to put some emphasis some of the applications and some of the many open problems related to this topic.
