Title: Semantical Reflection: Programs, Digital Twins, Correctness

Abstract:

Knowledge graphs and ontologies are eminently useful to represent formal knowledge about a domain's or a system’s individuals and universals, with numerous success stories from data integration, expert systems and standardization. In contrast, programming languages are designed to describe a system’s evolution. In this talk we are presenting the integration of knowledge graphs with programming languages to describe system evolution, structure and connection to domain knowledge. We introduce the underlying technique of semantic reflection that allows procedural reflection of a program using a knowledge serialization and present recent advances for self-adaptive systems, in particular Digital Twins, where knowledge graphs are used to connect to industrial Asset Information Models, and for qualitative simulation, where we connect ontologies with a simulation of geological processes.

Short bio:

Eduard Kamburjan is Assistant Professor at the Software Quality Research group at the IT University of Copenhagen. His current research interests include self-adaptation and data management in Digital Twins, as well as the connection of software engineering practices with knowledge graphs and ontologies.
