Where: | Academy Building, Broerstraat 5, Groningen |
A smartphone that breaks after 3 months, an empty box delivered after an online purchase, regret about the kitchen you bought when you actually just wanted to look around, missing your flight due to delays or long queues.
These are all examples of situations that you as a consumer can suffer from. But what are your rights in these types of situations? What should you pay attention to and what are the options for engaging a dispute committee or a claims company? Prof. Charlotte Pavillon, professor of private law at the University of Groningen, will talk about this during this public academy.
Mr. As a senior commercial/subdistrict judge at the Northern Netherlands District Court, Jeff Biesma often comes into contact with these types of disputes. What do you do if you cannot reach an agreement with the manufacturer or supplier? What can you do if a dispute committee or claims company has not helped? How can you then obtain your rights? Using practical examples, Mr. Jeff Biesma tells you everything about how that works.

The Public Academy for Jurisprudence
Through lectures aimed at the general public, the Publieksacademie voor de Rechtspraak (Public Academy for Jurisprudence) seeks to satisfy this immense interest. Judges, public prosecutors, professors and other experts discuss legal topics that affect many people. The lectures are suitable for a wide audience and do not require knowledge of the law.
The Public Academy is a collaboration between the Court of the Northern Netherlands, the Faculty of Law at the University of Groningen, the Northern Netherlands Public Prosecution Service and the Dagblad van het Noorden newspaper.
