More and more people and companies are getting into debt. But how did it come to this? And are you responsible for your debts or is it due to circumstances? What can you do to get out of this situation?

During the Public Academy for Jurisprudence on Thursday 30 November, Frank Verstijlen, professor of private law at the University of Groningen, will talk about collection and bailiff practices. Which people and institutions earn from the debts of others?

Hein Idzenga, judge at the District Court of Northern Netherlands, will talk about the people who are in debt and the ins and outs of the legal WSNP process. He also talks about the daily practice of insolvency work at the court.

The Public Academy for Jurisprudence

Through lectures aimed at the general public, the Publieksacademie voor de Rechtspraak (Public Academy for Jurisprudence) seeks to satisfy this immense interest. Judges, public prosecutors, professors and other experts discuss legal topics that affect many people. The lectures are suitable for a wide audience and do not require knowledge of the law.

The Public Academy is a collaboration between the Court of the Northern Netherlands, the Faculty of Law at the University of Groningen, the Northern Netherlands Public Prosecution Service and the Dagblad van het Noorden newspaper.
