Tenants’ Advice Bureau

The Kamerbewoners Adviesburo (KAB) [Tenants’ Advice Bureau] is a foundation that provides free tenancy law advice to students and other tenants. All KAB staff members study law at the University of Groningen’s Faculty of Law. During its monthly business meeting, the KAB is assisted by an experienced lawyer, who reviews the cases handled and reviews the advice given.

Tenants can get free advice from the KAB about their personal situation and their rights. The KAB can also send a mail to your landlord on your behalf, which will often bring about a satisfactory result. The most complex cases are first reviewed by our in-house lawyer to ensure we give the right advice. In  exceptional cases, our in-house lawyer can even assist you in legal proceedings at a greatly reduced rate.

However, a good relationship between tenant and landlord is  our main priority. To this end, we regularly encourage tenants to discuss problems with the landlord themselves.
