Teaching
The Department of Private Law and Notarial Law provides education in all phases of the Bachelor's degree programme in Law and the Bachelor's degree programme in Notarial Law. The department is responsible for the Master's degree programme in Dutch Law (specialization Private Law), the Master's degree programme in Notarial Law and the LLM in International & Comparative Private Law. In addition, it contributes to other degree programmes within the faculty.
Private Law
Private law is included in all years of legal education. The Private Law programme gives access to the judiciary and the legal profession. It is also excellent preparation for legal positions within companies, financial institutions such as banks and insurers, and social institutions in, for example, healthcare and government. Professional opportunities are as promising as ever.
Many students opt for a legal profession. The programme offers excellent contacts with the professional field, including the judiciary and the legal profession (both urban and regional).
Notarial Law
The Notarial Law program in Groningen is designed to be so broad that it does not only train students to become a notary. In fact, the study can also serve as a base for all other legal jobs. Also unique are the opportunities for internships abroad and very active participation in the research conducted by the Notarial Law Section.
The program is closely aligned with programs in which private law predominates. It is relatively small, which ensures clarity, accessibility of teachers and informal contact.
