Prof Dr W. (Wouter) Burgerhart, LLM
Wouter Burgerhart has been appointed as a professor in the department of Private Law en Notarial Law of the University of Groningen with a focus on the fiscal aspects of the notarial legal practice. Moreover he is a partner with ScholsBurgerhartSchols, estate planners and legal advisers (on notarial law) in Nijmegen. Wouter mainly focuses both in his legal practice and in his research and teaching on the estate planning, in particular concerning (retired) entrepreneurs. He advises, teaches en publishes on a wide range of subjects concerning notarial and tax law. On a regular base he is involved in setting up and implementing the transfer of small and medium sized enterprises. In 2008 he defended his PhD-thesis on inheritance law, mainly focusing on the influence of inheritance law on the transfer of enterprises. Wouter is (as an editor) involved in several periodicals and (hand)books on his field (of study), as well as member of related (inter)national (professional) associations such as The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and The International Academy of Estate and Trust Law.
