Reading circle quantitative methods in legal research
In empirical legal research a variety of methods can be used to collect and analyse data. These include quantitative methods, including surveys, systematic case law analysis and statistics. Within the Groningen Centre for Empirical Legal Research, prof. Michel Vols & Michelle Bruijn (Department of Legal Methods) organise a monthly reading circle on the use of quantitative research methods within legal research.
Every month the reading circle discusses an inspiring publication (article/chapter/report), the advantages and disadvantages of the methods used in the publication, and how the methods can be used in the researchers’ own projects. All faculty members, including PhD and research master students, can join the reading circle. Experience with quantitative legal research methods is not required. The first (online) meeting of the reading circle will take place in December 2020.
