Flying to the Netherlands

In case you decide to fly please note Groningen Aiport, there is a limited number of connections. It's more likely that you will fly to Schiphol (Amsterdam) Airport.

Traveling from Schiphol (Amsterdam) Airport to Groningen by train

There are yellow ticket machines (the Dutch Railroad is called NS) in the terminal where you wait for your luggage, if you have a spare moment waiting you can already buy your train ticket. If you don't have time at that moment there are plenty of machines in the rest of the Airport, in the main hall and on the train station itself.

Make sure you buy a one way ticket, one way Schiphol-Groningen, a second class ticket costs 23 euro. Don't buy a two way ticket, these are only for the same day or the weekend. Unless you arrive and depart on the day of the conference it's impossible to buy a two way ticket.

Buying train tickets from Schiphol Airport to Groningen Central Station is only possible with Master Card (credit card) and PIN-cards that have the Maestro-logo. It's extremely hard to find a machine that takes cash money so try to make sure you have one of these two ways to pay for your ticket. If you don't have either you can go the NS-service- and salespoint which is opended 24/7 and buy a ticket with cash money there, but you get charged extra, it takes longer than simply getting one from a machine and might involve additional waiting times.

The trains from Schiphol leave every thirty minutes, at 19 past and 49 past from platform 3. Both take about 2 hours and 30 minutes to get to Groningen. The 19 past is a direct connection. The 49 past has one transfer, 45 minutes after leaving Schiphol at Amersfoort Station. There you have 3 minutes time to walk a few meters to the other side of the platform where the train is that will take you to Groningen.

Accessebility by public transport from Groningen central railway station

You will find the bus station on the right when leaving the railway station. From the central railwaystation Groningen you can get to Gasunie by bus line 6, direction Hoornsemeer and with the regional lines 82 and 85. From the bus stop it's a four to eight minute walk depending on which bus you take. For times and more information we 'd like to refer you to the journey planner 9292ov.nl.

Taxi

You will find the taxis on the left when leaving the railway station. If you need one from your hotel they will probably call one for you. Taking a cab from the central railway station to the conference, at Gasunie, costs between 7 and 12 euro depending on which one you take. From the centre of the city it's between 9 and 15 euro. In case you have to call a taxi yourself here are two numbers:

Taxi Bob 050 5792077

Taxi Noord 050 5777708

Parking

Because there is limited room on the Gasunie parkinglot we were asked to direct you to the parking options near the MartiniPlaza.

There are several places where you can park if you come to the conference by car. Near the Martiniplaza are 1500 parking spaces, the MartiniPlaza garage with 600 parking slots is one possible place to park. The rates of the garage are €6 to park your car for a full day.

When you leave the MartiniPlaza garage you'll be in front of the Martiniplaza, from here you can see the Gasunie and you will be directed to walk through a bicycle tunnel to get the Gasunie building.

At the conference you can pay for your parking, in order to prevent long rows at the machines of the garage.
