Lunch meeting with Ben Baldwin 'Financial Supervision in Daily Practice: Challenges for Citizens?'

On Thursday 30 March the GCEFSL is organising a lunch meeting with Ben Baldwin (Lauxtermann advocaten). The topic of Baldwin's lecture is "Financial supervision in daily practice: Challenges for citizens?" The lecture starts with a short introduction that places the Dutch Financial Supervision Act (Wet op het financieel toezicht (Wft)) in the today's context and then explores how it can (unexpectedly) affect the legal position of citizens in daily practice.
Ben Baldwin is an attorney with Lauxtermann advocaten in Amsterdam and specialized in financial supervision (banking, insurance, payments). He advises on the implementation of new regulations, introduction of new products and how to approach regulatory issues. Ben has extensive knowledge of the regulatory environment in the financial sector in the Netherlands, gained during 30 years of working in the financial sector, of which 9 years as General Counsel with a bank and 6 years as an attorney. His specializations are: corporate governance, the banker's oath and disciplinary code, director and officer liability, regulatory compliance, outsourcing, banking, insurance, and payment products, AML, duty of care, consumer protection, and complaints handling.
