Prof. Dr Mark Wissink

Mark Wissink, professor of private law at our faculty, recently received the Golden Pear Award in contract law. He was presented with the award by Mr., a renowned (online) magazine and legal platform.

Named the best by colleagues

In 2007, Mr. started awarding a series of Golden Pears. The first went to former politician and lawyer Ferdinand Grapperhaus. In the three years that followed, various well-known lawyers received the award. One of them was Leon Verstappen, professor of private law (and dean at the time) at our faculty.

The winner of the Golden Pear is not chosen by an independent jury, but by 'peers'. Each Golden Pear is awarded to the most prominent lawyer in a particular field of law. That lawyer is chosen by a group of twenty to twenty-five fellow lawyers from the same field of law.

Employed at the public prosecutor’s office at the Supreme Court

Wissink has been affiliated with the Faculty of Law since 2001. Since 1 May 2021, he has been an honorary professor of Private Law, in particular Law of Obligations. He teaches a Commercial Contracts seminar in the master's program. In addition, he has been appointed to the public prosecutor's office at the Supreme Court since 2010, currently as deputy attorney general.
