Jamie Behrendt wins Sustainable Society PhD Grant 2022
PhD researcher Jamie Behrendt is one of the winners of the Sustainable Society PhD Grants 2022, awarded by the University of Groningen. She received additional funding to carry out empirical research on microgrids.
Microgrids are small-scale decentralised electricity systems, which have the potential to manage the efficient integration of renewable energy. Its realization requires a legal framework, which currently does not exist in the EU. The grant will be spent on travelling to selected microgrid sites in the EU. Jamie Behrendt will interview microgrid developers about the legal and economic barriers they encountered while setting up the system.
